Scraggles
Abandoned Pet Rescue
Hello there, I'm Scraggles, the tennis ball fetch champion of the world! My favorite stunt is a backflip while catching the ball midair and hitting a perfect landing. I am a scruffy, almost 5 year-old Labrador / Patterdale Terrier mix who weighs 50lbs. I need a home with a yard, even just a small yard, so we can play fetch together. I walk great on a leash and enjoy rolling in the grass for belly rubs. I love treats and am incredibly smart so you can teach me many things. I have never been to an agility course, but any athletic activity is right up my alley. Even though I'm athletic, I am a good balance of calm but playful. I am potty trained and keep my kennel very clean. I prefer being friends with female dogs and just need a little time to get to know them. If you want to meet me and play some ball together, please complete an application at abandonedpetrescue.org
Karla
The Humane Society of Broward County
Sweet Karla is sadly getting overlooked, she has been at the shelter since the end of September. All she wants is a family to love. At 2 years old and 49 pounds, Karla was transferred to the Humane Society of Broward County from Madison County before hurricane Helene hit the area. Karla is a friendly gal who walks well on a leash, is affectionate, likes treats and loves to be pet. She plays with toys, is curious, and may want to try and sit in your lap. Karla has tested positive for heartworm. This is spread through the bite of an infected mosquito and is not contagious to people or other animals. It can be very costly to treat, but the shelter is covering the costs and has started treatment, so that Karla can live a long healthy life. She just needs a loving family to give her a chance. Are you that family? It is unknown how she is with other pets, so a meet and greet is recommended if you have a dog at home.
To meet Karla (ID 689022), or any other pet visit www.humanebroward.com and complete the pre-adoption application. The adoption kennels open daily at 11 a.m. and appointments are not required. The Humane Society of Broward County is located at 2070 Griffin Road, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312 and if you have any questions call 954-989-3977 ext. 6. The vaccine and microchip clinic is open 6 days a week. Visit the website to learn more about the hours and services offered.
Waddles
The Florida Keys SPCA
Meet Waddles - he's our longest running canine resident at the Key West Campus having been with us since 2021. He's also a Senior which makes his adoption free through our Golden Paw Project which you can learn about here: https://fkspca.org/adopt/
This 8 year old doodle is a complicated man, as most handsome men are. He's short in stature but long on personality, and has the strength of a dog half his age.
Has he been adopted? Yes. Has he been returned to us? Also yes. But this is not necessarily the fault of Waddles - we just need to place him in a home that can understand him, and where he will be the only dog. Waddles is not your everyday dog, and he needs a not your everyday family.
Please call our Front Desk at (305) 294 4857 to find out more about Waddles, and if you would be the best person or family for him. Someone out there is the perfect match for Waddles - could it be you?
Linus
Avery Humane Society
Linus is shy when he first meets someone new. It takes a little time for him to warm up, but once he does, he becomes the happiest and most lovable friend. He loves giving kisses and soaking up all the attention he can get. Linus can run around by himself forever, but he also does well with other dogs. Linus's favorite part of the day is feeding time! <3 Linus is sponsored by Dogtown Spirit Cheerleading: "We hope you will help us find these sweet puppies a home!"
For more information on one of our animals or how to adopt, please contact an adoption associate Tuesday through Saturday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. at 828-733-2333 or email info@averyhumane.org. Hours may vary depending on weather or holidays.
Sequoia
The Humane Society of Wilkes
Meet Sequoia, a lovable girl around 2 years old, with a heart as big as her namesake. This possible Shepherd/Lab mix weighs 56 pounds and has overcome a challenging start in life, having been tied to a tree with little space to play. Despite her past, Sequoia remains cheerful and eager to greet you with a smile! Known for her loyalty and natural guarding instincts, she has impressive recall and comes running when called, always seeking praise. Sequoia enjoys outdoor playtime and fetch, but she also appreciates a cozy spot on the couch or dog bed, displaying excellent house manners. She's house and crate trained, loves to eat, and gets along well with other large dogs, though she’s not compatible with cats, small dogs, or livestock. After many months of waiting, she’s ready to find her forever family. Adopting Sequoia means welcoming a devoted, loving, and intelligent companion into your life! Sequoia has been spayed, microchipped, and is up to date on vaccines and monthly preventatives. For questions, email juliansate@gmail.com or fill out an application here:
