Derrick Alan Higgins is a community-centered communicator, yoga instructor and wellness guide based in Fort Lauderdale and Wilton Manors, Florida. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Communication from Appalachian State University with a focus on Electronic Media, TV and Radio Broadcasting, along with studies in Psychology and Sociology. After experiencing a transformative shift in his own life through holistic preventative healthcare, Derrick fully committed to a yoga practice, embraced a vegan lifestyle and became a Registered and Certified Yoga Instructor through Yoga Alliance.
Derrick is dedicated to sharing his journey by leading Power Yoga, Vinyasa, Restorative and Yin Yoga classes in Fort Lauderdale and Wilton Manors, Florida.
Derrick’s classes are intentionally welcoming to LGBTQ+ youth and adults, allies and neighbors. He also values accessible, calming, and restorative wellness practices that can support older adults, caregivers, and community members in feeling grounded, respected, and connected. His focus is creating calm, affirming spaces that support mental and emotional wellbeing, nervous system regulation and a felt sense of safety and belonging.

​Derrick’s yoga and meditation offerings are currently available in Wilton Manors and Fort Lauderdale through private sessions, small groups, and pop ups.
His classes are welcoming, grounding, and accessible, with a focus on helping participants feel comfortable, supported, connected, and at ease.
Sessions may include gentle movement, breathwork, restorative stretching, meditation, and optional Vedic Thai Yoga Bodywork, Aromatherapy, Chromatherapy, and Music Healing elements.
For students seeking a stronger practice, Derrick also offers a more dynamic 60-minute Power Yoga or Vinyasa flow with music, movement, strength, endurance, and flexibility.
Everyone is welcome, regardless of skill level or experience, and participants are encouraged to modify, rest, or use props as needed.
Please bring a yoga mat, hand towel, and water, and wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move easily.
Each session ends with a calming meditation to help participants feel centered, refreshed, and supported.
